Medication Competency (Refresher)
A practical one day refresher in safe medication assistance and administration for NDIS and aged care workers.
A short, practical refresher in safe manual handling for support workers, carers, and frontline staff.
Manual Handling Refresher is a focused half day session for workers who already hold manual handling skills and need to keep them current. The class is delivered face to face by experienced trainers and aligns closely with the practical content of HLTWHS005 without issuing a nationally recognised statement.
You will revisit safe biomechanics, complete a quick task risk assessment, and rehearse transfers using slide sheets, transfer belts, and a mobile floor hoist. The session also revisits hazardous task reporting, the hierarchy of control, and respectful communication during transfers, so you leave confident, current, and ready for your next shift.

Practical use of risk assessment templates and the hierarchy of control across real workplace scenarios.
Hands on practice with slide sheets, transfer belts, standing aids, and other commonly used transfer gear.
Step by step practice on a mobile floor hoist with sling selection and team work.
Hazard reporting, post incident documentation, and reflection on safer practice for your role.
Keep your manual handling current across in home and community shifts with confidence.
Meet provider refresher expectations and reduce the risk of injury to yourself and the participant.
Use small space transfers, slide sheets, and portable aids to keep clients safe at home.
Apply safe lifting, pushing, and pulling habits across logistics, retail, and care settings.
Assessment is observational and continuous. You will demonstrate safe lifting, slide sheet use, transfer belt use, and a complete hoist transfer in pairs under direct trainer observation. A short reflection task at the end of the session asks you to plan a safe transfer for a simulated participant in your own workplace.
On successful completion you receive a So Rig Institute Statement of Attendance confirming your refresher in manual handling. The statement lists the topics covered and the date attended, and is suitable for your professional development file and provider compliance records.
We recommend a refresher every twelve months, in line with most provider policies, so your skills, documentation, and incident reporting stay current.
