Students will learn hand hygiene procedures, PPE use, infection prevention strategies, environmental cleaning, waste handling, and how to respond appropriately to infection control risks and breaches in workplace settings.

Assessment is competency based and includes both theory and practical activities. Students will complete a written knowledge assessment covering infection risks, standard precautions, PPE selection, workplace hygiene, and reporting procedures. Practical assessment tasks include demonstrating correct hand hygiene techniques, safely applying and removing PPE, and responding appropriately to infection control situations in simulated workplace scenarios. Additional support and reassessment opportunities are available if required.
On successful completion, students will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for HLTINF006 Apply Basic Principles and Practices of Infection Prevention and Control issued through a partner Registered Training Organisation.
